Delighted that my painting “DOOLIN STORM” is one of the winning entries in the international competition entitled “SEASCAPES” organised by multi award winning U.K. based Artists Info in conjunction with Daler Rowney.
The painting was inspired by the storms of last Winter which created havoc on the West coast of Ireland.
In the village of Doolin, which is close to my studio, scores of people turned out to watch the drama unfold. For an artist the spectacle was an exciting challenge to capture the raging atmosphere and the force of the waves crashing against the boulders.
I thoroughly enjoyed painting “DOOLIN STORM”.

DOOLIN
Ocean fury, waves
spiralling higher than the Cliffs
January storms wrecking havoc.
Year after year
boulders strewn across the carparks,
nature dictating, dominating,
demonstrating her strength
over the mercenary wants of man.
Neptune frothing
lashing forward,
provoking the pier
now bereft of vessels ferried
to safe havens.
A sudden crash of thunder
flashes ultramarine light,
casts it’s spotlight on the drama
of an open theatre.
Mesmerising the audience on the shore.
